Year 5 Blog 2024/25

  Song Writing  This term, year 5 are going to be writing their own songs.  This week, we analysed the structure of a few songs. We talked about the difference between the verse and chorus and the impact of a pre-chorus or a middle 8 in a song.  Looking at some different songs, we noticed that one song might be structured completely differently to another.  The children started creating a backing track to add their lyrics to in the coming weeks.

During RE, the children learnt about stewardship and how we are all given the world to look after. This was linked to why muslims look after the world and why. 

 The lesson this week was taught in two parts. Firstly, the children completed their assessment answering their overarching question - Which country in Scandinavia would you rather visit and why?Some amazing work with lots of different ideas and recall from their lessons.  Then, they recapped finding four grid references. 

 Year 5 practised the alphabet and  sang En route pour ecole. They were then introduced to simple directions in French. They then looked at a text and followed along on a map, which they then marked out on their own maps. 

Today was F1 Race Day. After weeks of preparation and careful design, we were finally ready to show our hard work to the judges. Year 5 were exemplary and impressed us all with their team work and mature approach to the competition. It was great to see the team t-shirts and pit garages, and the judges were impressed by the children’s knowledge and enthusiasm. Well done everyone!
