History: Anglo-Saxon Invasion!

 This week, Year 5 began a new learning journey in History.


First, we reminded ourselves of our learning about the Romans before the summer holidays. Miss Studd posed the question: do you think Britain became more peaceful or less peaceful after the Romans left?

The children learned that there were a LOT of invasions that took place after the Romans left Britain.
Did you know...? A tribe of people called Jutes invaded and settled on the Isle of Wight.

Planning our Fieldwork

One of the children brought in some memorabelia from Cowes including a plaque that was on the Blyskawica and an old photo from 1942.  This week, the children have planned the question they would like to answer about their local area as they will be heading into Cowes on Tuesday to collect their data.  Alongside this, the children were introduced to a risk assessment and taps a class they made a risk assessment for Tuesday. Such great ideas and discussions about risks and how we can keep ourselves safe when we go outside of school.
