Decimals

 During this week, the children continued to increase their knowledge about decimals. This included rounding to the nearest whole and tenth. I have been amazed at how efficient the children are at converting decimals to fractions as well as writing the numbers correctly when a number is dictated to them. 

Towards the end of the week, the children have started to find add and subtract decimals using their place value knowledge.

Planning our Fieldwork

One of the children brought in some memorabelia from Cowes including a plaque that was on the Blyskawica and an old photo from 1942.  This week, the children have planned the question they would like to answer about their local area as they will be heading into Cowes on Tuesday to collect their data.  Alongside this, the children were introduced to a risk assessment and taps a class they made a risk assessment for Tuesday. Such great ideas and discussions about risks and how we can keep ourselves safe when we go outside of school.
