Well done to everybody who took part in sports day today. Everybody put in lots of effort and resilience, especially in the running races. I was really impressed with our year five children who acted as at true team. They supported each other when things didn’t go as well as they expected. True Gurnard spirit. U
Our RE lesson this week was all about the concept: A good life. The children identified what a good life is and discussed what makes their life great and at times not so great. They then looked at rules and how these need to be kept so there are boundaries to protect us. They then went on to enquire about what Humanism is and how these people feel they live a meaningful and full life. Their approach is non-religious as they lead a good and happy life without needing to believe in god. Once the children had completed multiple tasks, they then had a choice of activities to show their learning.
In PSHE, the children looked at different online sites to see if they are reliable. Once they chose a person of interest, they used different websites such as Google and Swiggle to see if they are reliable or useful as the children know that they cannot always trust what they read on line. Questions were asked as to what information did you find, how do you know this information is trustworthy or accurate and who wrote the information. The children then used Canva to make a fact file about the person they researched. I can’t wait to see the final work.
