Today, we were busy finalising our group information to add to portfolios. This meant that we could begin to write up information for our presentations.
Year 5 children went to Medina Theatre today to learn how different composers came up with the ideas for their sounds. It was a very, very, very hot experience. There was a 6 piece orchestra with a conductor who showed the children how to make their own pieces of music using different instruments. Throughout the show, the children were drip fed a song about chocolate cake and at the end of the session, they all sang the song with the orchestra accompanying them.
Well done to everybody who took part in sports day today. Everybody put in lots of effort and resilience, especially in the running races. I was really impressed with our year five children who acted as at true team. They supported each other when things didn’t go as well as they expected. True Gurnard spirit. U
During this week, the children continued to increase their knowledge about decimals. This included rounding to the nearest whole and tenth. I have been amazed at how efficient the children are at converting decimals to fractions as well as writing the numbers correctly when a number is dictated to them. Towards the end of the week, the children have started to find add and subtract decimals using their place value knowledge.
