Today, year 5 had lunch together (American supper style). There was so much food, however, most of it was eaten. The children enjoyed their time together as they conversed and sang songs.
During this week, the children continued to increase their knowledge about decimals. This included rounding to the nearest whole and tenth. I have been amazed at how efficient the children are at converting decimals to fractions as well as writing the numbers correctly when a number is dictated to them. Towards the end of the week, the children have started to find add and subtract decimals using their place value knowledge.
During RE, the children learnt about stewardship and how we are all given the world to look after. This was linked to why muslims look after the world and why.
The children enjoyed learning how to find remainders using lollipop sticks. They used their visual representations to help them solve increasingly harder questions.
